My early exposure to Blues music came from listening to records by Muddy Waters and Lightnin Hopkins with my father.
Craig: I have read that you spent some time in the military?
Jimi: Yes. After getting into trouble with the law two times over driving in a stolen car, I traded a 2-year jail sentence for enlistment in the U.S. Army in 1961. After boot I was assigned to the 101st Airborne Division and stationed in Fort Campbell, Kentucky as a trainee paratrooper. I was adjusting to Army life and was very excited to be a part of the 101st Airborne. I was a useless soldier, and was caught sleeping while on duty and missing at bed-check. I was always thinking about my guitar. I wrote home to my father while in boot camp begging him to send a guitar, because I thought I was going crazy. But in May 31, 1962, after one year of service, I was recommended for discharge for my behavior problems.
Craig: Tell me about your first UK success?
Jimi: After doing a number of European club appearances, word of me spread through London. My showmanship made the fans of guitarests like Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck. I was signed to The Who's record label, Track Records.
Craig: Tell me about Woodstock?
Jimi: I headlined the Woodstock music festival in August 18, 1969.
I did not appear on stage until Monday morning, by which time the audience was of over 500,000 people. I did the longest set in my career at two hours but it was plagued with technical difficulties because there was microphone and guitar tuning problems.
Craig: Tell me about your pride and joy, your guitar?
Jimi: Yes!! My guitar of choice and the instrument that I am associated with is the Fender Stratocaster, or "Strat". The Strat's easy action and narrow neck are suited to my style. I bought my first Stratocaster in 1965 and have used the same ever since.
Craig: Thanks for the interview. I challenge you to a guitar dual!!

Craig277http://www.blogger.com/profile/00962355103138886014noreply@blogger.com52tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3134575603657356190.post-73071760313511942002007-11-15T14:47:00.000+00:002007-11-15T23:01:18.870+00:00Sir Walter ScottThe Scottish novelist and poet Sir Walter Scott (1771-1832) is the acknowledged master of the historical novel. Thanks for taking the time for this interview. So let’s start from the beginning -

Craig: Where were you born in Scotland?

Walter: I was born in College Wynd in the Old Town of Edinburgh in 1771.

Craig: What school did you attend?

Walter: In 1778 I returned to Edinburgh for private education to prepare for school and in October 1779 he began at the Royal High School of Edinburgh. That I enjoyed as I was able to walk and explore the city as well as the surrounding countryside. After finishing school I was sent to stay for six months with my aunt Jenny in Kelso, attending the local Grammar School where I met James Ballantyne who later became my business partner.

Craig: And presumably you went to University?

Walter: I began studying classics at the University of Edinburgh in November 1783, at the age of only twelve so I was a year or so younger than most of my fellow students. But in March 1786 I began an apprenticeship in my father's office, to become a Writer to the Signet.

Craig: Sounds interesting, let’s talk more about your literacy career.

Walter: At the age of 25 I began writing, translating works from German. I then published a three-volume set of collected Scottish ballads called The Minstrelsy of the Scottish Border.
Craig: Tell me more about your novels.
Walter: In 1814 set out to write something that would bring constant income. The result was called Waverley, It was a tale of the "Forty-Five" Jacobite rising in the Kingdom of Great Britain.

Craig: Where all your books about or based in Scotland?

Walter: No! In 1819 I broke away from writing about Scotland with Ivanhoe, a historical romance set in 12th-century England. Among other things, the book has a very sympathetic Jewish character called Rebecca, a real heroine. The book was published at a time when the struggle for the Emancipation of the Jews in England.

Craig: Thanks a lot for taking the time to talk to me Sir Walter hope you have a good day.
Craig277http://www.blogger.com/profile/00962355103138886014noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3134575603657356190.post-20019692127039758472007-11-08T14:06:00.000+00:002007-11-13T20:45:19.151+00:00Shambalia Page 2
You are lead into a magnificent monastery were you are fed the best soup ever it is the perfect texture and also smells great and the drink is very unusual. Illinois has a broad economic base. Illinois is an important transportation hub; the Port of Chicago connects the Lakes to the Mississippi River via the Illinois River. Because Illinois is nearly 400 mile (640 km) length and mid-continental situation, Illinois has a widely varying climate with hot, humid summers and cool to cold winters.
Illinois has numerous museums. The state of the art Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum in Springfield is the largest presidential library in the country. Illinois also has many Protestants who are the largest religious group in Illinois. However, Illinois is not as heavily Protestant as neighboring states are. Roman Catholics, who are heavily concentrated in and around Chicago, account for 30% of the population.

Capital Springfield
Largest City Chicago
Area Ranked 25th
-Total 57,918 sp miles
-Width 210 miles
-Length 390 miles
-% water 4.0

Population Ranked 5th
-Total (2000) 12,831,970Craig277http://www.blogger.com/profile/00962355103138886014noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3134575603657356190.post-61017444081987496642007-11-01T13:40:00.000+00:002007-11-01T13:56:28.218+00:00Oasis Lord Down Slow Me DownCraig277http://www.blogger.com/profile/00962355103138886014noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3134575603657356190.post-13571961254657924342007-11-01T13:31:00.000+00:002007-11-01T13:39:34.261+00:00My October HolidayI my holiday I went down to the motor sport show I knockhill with my mate it was good but very cold. Many other items can be bought but these are the essentials in my opinion.

To begin when learning to play guitar you must first get used to the instrument. The guitar is constructed with a head, neck and body. The body maximizes the sound, the neck has frets to adjusts the sound and the head holds the stings tight and alters the tuning.
The strings on the guitar are:
1st string E (the thin string)
2nd string B
3rd string G
4th string D
5th string A
6th string E (the thick string)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GOZuRLvdMbA

Cords

The next this that I recommend that you do is learn the basic cords as they are the basis of meny songs the basic cords are:

Scales

What is the definition of a scale?

A musical scale is a discrete set of pitches used in making music. Typically a scale has an interval of repetition, which is normally the octave. This means that for any pitch in the scale, we have also an equivalent pitch an octave above and an octave below it.
Practicing scales should become part of your daily practice routine. How much time you devote to scales really depends on your goals as a guitar player. But at the very least play through a couple of scales daily to help warm up and strengthen your fingers.

First just go up and down using all 4 fingers on next frets on the first string. Start on the 5th fret. As you are going to the next note higher, keep the previous finger down and just stretch with your next finger to the next fret. It is you should to keep your left hand thumb around the middle of the back of the neck. This will help you reach the notes more simply. Try and pick right at the point when you put down your left hand finger play this exercise slow at first. Only increase the speed once you can play each note clean and with perfect timing. You will pick up speed naturally as you practice.
2 strings-repeat the above except covering 2 strings.

Keep adding strings until you can play using all 6 strings. Your left hand is important as you play . Remember to have your thumb in the middle of the next because if your thumb is up too high you will find it hard to stretch and reach the notes.Craig277http://www.blogger.com/profile/00962355103138886014noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3134575603657356190.post-34739270272877645202007-09-27T23:08:00.000+01:002007-09-29T19:46:11.505+01:00My college dayToday at college I managed to insert a picture of Jimmy Hendrix as the background for my web-page. It is the job of reporters such as Andy Brown to go out into the streets across the U.K and find out what affects the lives and the opinions of Radio 1’s target audience.

Publicity

The publicists at Radio 1’s job get the target audience of Radio 1 to know about and get involved in the national and international events such was the big weekend in Ibiza.

Craig277http://www.blogger.com/profile/00962355103138886014noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3134575603657356190.post-42677818900399246322007-09-20T13:24:00.000+01:002007-09-20T13:29:16.143+01:00This week
This week my band and I learned to play two new songs on the guitar.Craig277http://www.blogger.com/profile/00962355103138886014noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3134575603657356190.post-4012826602398493472007-09-14T11:06:00.000+01:002007-09-20T13:41:17.473+01:00Bob Marley

Get Up Stand Up by Bob Marley is a great song and I like the lyrics.
